  • City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council (24 007 332)

Statement Upheld Special educational needs 21-Apr-2025

Summary: Ms X complained that the Council failed to provide full-time education and special educational provision for her son (Y). She also complained about the Council’s delay in reviewing Y’s Education Health and Care Plan, its failure to re-assess Y’s speech and language needs and to communicate with her. We found fault with the Council. This fault caused injustice to Y and Ms X. The Council has agreed to apologise and make payments to recognise Y’s loss of provision and Ms X’s distress. The Council has also agreed to reimburse Ms X for the cost of a Speech and Language Therapy report.

  • Gloucestershire County Council (24 007 719)

Statement Upheld Assessment and care plan 21-Apr-2025

Summary: Mrs X complained the Council has not made reasonable allowances for Disability Related Expenses for her son. We found fault with the Council’s rationale of declining a Disability Related Expense for Cetaphil. We did not find fault with the Council’s other decisions but are aware new evidence is now available to Mrs X. The Council agreed to reconsider its decision about declining a Disability Related Expense for Cetaphil. The Council also agreed to write to Mrs X to detail what evidence it needs so it can reconsider other Disability Related Expense requests.

  • London Borough of Redbridge (24 015 955)

Statement Not upheld Child protection 21-Apr-2025

Summary: Mr X complained that the Council mishandled a child protection investigation. We will discontinue our investigation. This is because the Council has not yet fully responded to his complaint.

  • Slough Borough Council (24 017 003)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 21-Apr-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s response to Miss X’s reports of a housing hazard. The Council investigated her concerns and decided it did not need to act. Therefore, any further investigation by us is unlikely to achieve a different outcome.

  • London Borough of Ealing (24 017 835)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Transport 21-Apr-2025

Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about the Council’s decision to refuse him a Blue Badge. There is insufficient evidence of fault to warrant an investigation.

  • Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (24 018 101)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Homelessness 21-Apr-2025

Summary: We will not investigate Miss X’s complaints about the suitability of her temporary accommodation and about the delay in providing her with long term accommodation. This is because Miss X has a right of appeal and because we are not likely to find fault.

  • Leeds City Council (24 018 444)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Special educational needs 21-Apr-2025

Summary: We cannot investigate Miss X’s complaint about how the Council handled her child’s Education, Health and Care Plan. Part of the complaint is late, and there are no good reasons why we should consider it. Additionally, we cannot consider any matter connected to a decision that has been appealed to a tribunal. For the part of Miss X’s complaint we can investigate, the Council have already made an offer of a symbolic remedy, and it is unlikely we would achieve any further outcome.

  • Sanctuary Care Limited (24 018 479)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Charging 21-Apr-2025

Summary: We will not investigate Mrs X’s complaint about how her late parents' Care Provider dealt with issues about outstanding charges. There is not enough evidence of fault in relation to the Care Provider’s handling of outstanding charges for Mrs X’s late father. There is also nothing more we could add to the Care Provider’s investigation and response to Mrs X’s complaint about how the Care Home Manager approached discussions with her about outstanding charges.

  • Reading Borough Council (24 018 630)

    Statement Upheld Other 21-Apr-2025

Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s children services complaint as the Council has agreed to a proportionate way to resolve the complaint.

  • Epping Forest District Council (24 018 725)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Council tax 21-Apr-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about council tax arrears and an allegation of lost payments. This is because parts of the complaint are late, the debt has been confirmed in court, and because there is insufficient evidence of fault by the Council.
