  • Worcestershire County Council (25 007 139)

Statement Upheld Assessment and care plan 12-Mar-2026

Summary: The Council failed to communicate with Mrs X and her daughter, Mrs K, when it arranged care with a new care provider. The Council also failed to tell Mrs X or Mrs K that it was possible to seek an alternative provider and it did not address their complaint about this fully. The Council’s shortcomings caused Mrs X and Mrs K distress and frustration. Mrs X cancelled the care, but the injustice is limited because it is likely that the Council would have ended the care package. The Council has already made some service improvements and it will apologise to Mrs X and Mrs K for the impact of its shortcomings.

  • Leicester City Council (25 008 254)

    Statement Upheld School transport 12-Mar-2026

Summary: Mrs Y complains that her child, whom I will call D, received unsafe home‑to‑school transport arranged by the Council. The Council has accepted there was fault in the transport provided on two occasions and has apologised and implemented service improvements. In addition to the actions already taken, the Council has agreed to reimburse Mrs Y for mileage incurred while she transported D and make a symbolic payment for the distress caused.

  • Westmorland and Furness Council (25 010 790)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 12-Mar-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s actions in relation to vehicles parking on grass verges. This is because it relates to the Council’s role as a social landlord which is out of our jurisdiction. It is unlikely we would find fault with the remaining issues complained about.

  • Peterborough City Council (25 010 822)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Leisure and culture 12-Mar-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about how the Council heard a petition relating to a local library. The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport is better placed to consider this complaint, and an investigation now is unlikely to achieve anything further for Mrs X.

  • Derby City Council (25 012 465)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Planning applications 12-Mar-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about how the Council dealt with a retrospective planning application. This is because we are unlikely to find fault.

  • Avery Homes (Nelson) Limited (25 013 905)

    Statement Upheld Residential care 12-Mar-2026

Summary: Mrs X complained on behalf of her mother Mrs Y that the Care Provider failed to administer medication, maintain basic levels of hygiene, provide adequate general care given her visual impairment, and did not tell the truth when she raised concerns. We find the Care Provider at fault for failing to administer medication, maintain cleanliness and provide person-centred care which cause significant distress. It should apologise, reimburse some of the care fees and make service improvements to remedy the injustice.

  • Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council (25 013 946)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Health and safety 12-Mar-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s decision making on a health and safety matter. This is because there is not enough evidence of fault.

  • Suffolk County Council (25 014 185)

Statement Upheld Special educational needs 12-Mar-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s delay in issuing a final Education, Health and Care Plan for Mr X’s child and failure to ensure the provision in the Plan was made. The Council has offered a proportionate remedy for Mr X and his child’s injustice.

  • London Fire Commissioner (25 014 641)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 12-Mar-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about fire safety. There is not enough evidence of fault to justify investigating.

  • London Borough of Ealing (25 014 657)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Private housing 12-Mar-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint that the Council wrongly revoked an Improvement Notice. This is because the complaint is made late and there are not good reasons to investigate now.
