  • Thurrock Council (25 008 737)

    Statement Upheld Homelessness 15-Apr-2026

Summary: Mrs X complained the Council delayed dealing with her homeless application, and it delayed offering her accommodation under homelessness legislation. We find the Council was at fault for its delays in dealing with Mrs X’s homeless application. This caused her frustration and uncertainty. The Council has agreed to apologise to Mrs X and make a payment to her.

  • North Yorkshire Council (25 009 524)

    Statement Upheld School transport 15-Apr-2026

Summary: There was some fault in the way the Council publicised its new home to school transport policy. However, this did not cause Mr X a significant injustice as this would not have affected Mr X’s decision regarding the school applied for their child to attend. There was no evidence of fault in the way the appeals committee considered Mr X’s appeal against the Council’s decision not to provide free transport.

  • Cambridgeshire County Council (25 010 095)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Child protection 15-Apr-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this late complaint about the Council’s children’s services’ involvement in Mr X’s child’s case over several years. Some parts of the complaint are about historical matters that we could not now reach sound conclusions on. Mr X could have brought all parts of the complaint to us sooner.

  • Plymouth City Council (25 010 990)

Statement Upheld Special educational needs 15-Apr-2026

Summary: Mr X complained about the Council’s delays with the Education, Health and Care needs assessment process for his child. We found fault with the Council as it did not meet statutory timescales. This caused frustration and uncertainty for Mr X, and his child missed out on extra support for their needs. The Council agreed to apologise and make a symbolic payment to recognise the injustice caused.

  • South Holland District Council (25 011 604)

Statement Upheld Refuse and recycling 15-Apr-2026

Summary: Mrs X complained the Council unfairly failed to allow her to purchase its chargeable garden waste collection service. We find the Council at fault for a systems error that led to it not adding her to the collection service when it should have. This caused Mrs X injustice in the form of inconvenience and frustration. The Council has already apologised to remedy the injustice.

  • Suffolk County Council (25 013 241)

Statement Upheld Special educational needs 15-Apr-2026

Summary: We cannot investigate part of this complaint about the Council’s decision on the school it named in an Education, Health, and Care Plan. Miss X had a right of appeal on that decision, and it would have been reasonable to expect her to use it. Nor will we investigate the length of time it took, for the Council to complete the plan, after an annual review. The Council has already remedied Miss X’s injustice here and there are no wider public interest issues to justify investigating.

  • London Borough of Tower Hamlets (25 013 970)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Allocations 15-Apr-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about Miss X’s waiting time on the Council’s housing register. Part of the complaint is late. There is not enough evidence of fault causing significant injustice in the Council’s actions to justify investigating the rest of the complaint.

  • Cambridgeshire County Council (25 014 684)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Assessment and care plan 15-Apr-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this late complaint about the Council’s lack of adult social care involvement for his adult child between 2023 and 2024. Mr X could have complained to us sooner. In any event, there is insufficient evidence of fault by the Council.

  • Kingston Upon Hull City Council (25 018 852)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Health and safety 15-Apr-2026

Summary: We will not investigate Ms X’s complaint about the Council’s handling of her complaint about a local business. Part of the complaint is late, there is insufficient evidence of fault in its enforcement decision and it is unlikely an investigation would lead to a different outcome. The Information Commissioner’s Office is better placed to consider a complaint about access to information.

  • Woking Borough Council (25 018 983)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Council house sales and leaseholders 15-Apr-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s handling of the complainant’s right to buy application. This is primarily because it is reasonable to expect the complainant to use, or have used, the alternative court remedy which is available. An investigation is also unlikely to achieve much more than the apology and financial remedy previously offered by the Council.
