  • Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council (25 028 526)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Trees 01-Jul-2026

Summary: We will not investigate Miss X’s complaint about a Council tree outside her home, which she says has damaged her property. This is because it is reasonable for Miss X to pursue any claim for compensation through the court.

  • Kent County Council (26 006 508)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries School admissions 01-Jul-2026

Summary: We will not investigate Miss X’s complaint about the Council’s school’s admissions appeal panel refusing her appeal. It is unlikely we would find fault which caused Miss X to lose out on a school place.

  • Transport for London (26 007 722)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Parking and other penalties 01-Jul-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about a penalty charge notice issued by Transport for London. This is because there is not enough evidence of fault by the Authority and it is unlikely investigation would achieve any worthwhile outcome for Mr X.

  • North Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council (26 007 980)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Trees 01-Jul-2026

Summary: We will not investigate Ms B’s complaint about the Council’s refusal to pay compensation after a tree fell on her vehicle. This is because it is reasonable for Ms B to pursue her compensation claim at court.

  • Birmingham City Council (25 026 603)

    Statement Upheld Homelessness 01-Jul-2026

Summary: We have upheld Mr X’s complaint about the Council’s handling of his request for a review of its decision to refuse his housing register application. The Council has agreed to carry out the review it should have completed in September 2025, treating the review request as made in time. This is a proportionate remedy for the injustice caused.

  • Luton Borough Council (25 027 301)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Fostering 01-Jul-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about Mr X’s claim for reimbursement for damage caused by a foster child. This is because he can make an insurance claim and if needed to a court.

  • Staffordshire County Council (25 027 842)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Charging 01-Jul-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about how the Council assessed Ms X’s finances to calculate her contributions to the cost of her care. There is insufficient evidence of fault by the Council in how it calculated her contribution. Any fault due to delay in the Council reassessing Ms X’s finances did not cause her an injustice.

  • RKL Care Ltd (25 014 065)

    Statement Upheld Charging 01-Jul-2026

Summary: Mrs X complained on behalf of her late mother, Mrs Y, about the care she received from the Care Provider. We found it at fault for failing to provide Mrs Y with her prescribed medication and for poor record keeping. The Care Provider has apologised and issued a partial refund. It has also agreed to make a symbolic payment and review its procedures. Together, these actions are a suitable remedy.

  • London Borough of Islington (25 015 297)

    Statement Upheld Homelessness 01-Jul-2026

Summary: The Council was at fault, it delayed making a decision on Mr X’s housing application by more than 15 months, failed to address Mr X’s concerns about officer conduct in its complaint responses and failed to respond to Mr X’s requests for support to make rent payments. The Council’s failures caused Mr X uncertainty and avoidable distress. The Council agreed to apologise, make a payment to Mr X to remedy the injustice caused. The Council agreed to make a service improvement.

  • London Borough of Southwark (25 015 923)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Homelessness 01-Jul-2026

Summary: We will not investigate Ms X’s complaint about the Council’s handling of her homelessness applications. Her complaint about the period 2023-4 is late and there are no good reasons to decide to investigate now. There is insufficient evidence of fault in the period October to November 2025 to justify our involvement.
