  • Derbyshire County Council (24 017 507)

Statement Upheld Special educational needs 19-Feb-2026

Summary: Miss B complained the Council failed to secure provision for her son, who I will refer to as C, as outlined in his Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan, and consult with special schools. She also complained the Council’s communication with her was poor. There was fault by the Council. The Council failed to secure education and provision for C as outlined in his EHC Plan, it delayed and failed to send further school consultations as it said it would, and its communication with Miss B was poor. Because of the fault, Miss B suffered distress and frustration and C missed out on education and provision. The Council has agreed to make symbolic payments and send us evidence of a plan it says it has put in place to improve its service.

  • Leeds City Council (25 012 797)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Councillor conduct and standards 19-Feb-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about how the Council dealt with a complaint about the conduct of a councillor. There is not enough evidence of fault to justify an investigation.

  • North Northamptonshire Council (25 013 202)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Special educational needs 19-Feb-2026

Summary: We cannot investigate Miss X’s complaint that the Council failed to organise alternative educational provision for Miss X’s child while they were out of school. The complaint is closely linked to tribunal proceedings, and the law says we cannot investigate.

  • Surrey County Council (25 013 227)

Statement Upheld Special educational needs 19-Feb-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s delays in carrying out an Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment for a child. This is because the Council has offered the complainant a suitable remedy and it is reasonable to expect the complainant to appeal to the Tribunal in relation to any concerns they have about the content of the plan.

  • London Borough of Ealing (25 013 287)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Charging 19-Feb-2026

Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about the Council’s handling of his father’s care and social care charges. This is because his complaint is late and we have seen no good reason why he could not have complained to us sooner.

  • Rushcliffe Borough Council (25 013 320)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Refuse and recycling 19-Feb-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s waste collection service. This is because further investigation would not lead to a different outcome.

  • Sunderland City Council (25 013 575)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Child protection 19-Feb-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about safeguarding Mr F’s children because there is nothing we could add to the Council’s response by further investigation.

  • Northumberland County Council (25 013 687)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Child protection 19-Feb-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about a parenting assessment because we could not add to the independent investigation and review that has already taken place. The law prevents us considering complaints about the conduct of care proceedings, and there is not enough evidence of fault in arrangements to supervise contact to justify an investigation. There is no worthwhile outcome achievable.

  • Nottingham City Council (25 013 710)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Fostering 19-Feb-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s handling of matters involving Mrs X and two foster children. The Council has already investigated and responded to some of Mrs X’s concerns under all three stages of the statutory complaint procedure. It has apologised for the injustice caused by the faults identified. We could not add to the Council’s response or achieve anything more.

  • Bracknell Forest Council (25 018 161)
