Birmingham City Council (25 019 830)
Statement Upheld Homelessness 03-Aug-2026
Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s handling of Miss X’s homelessness. The Council has already provided a suitable remedy for the injustice caused by living in B&B too long. Miss X had rights of review and appeal about other matters it was reasonable for her to use. There is not enough injustice from remaining issues to justify investigating.

Ashford Borough Council (25 019 855)
Statement Upheld Homelessness 03-Aug-2026
Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council telling Ms X a property was a social housing tenancy when it was not. The Council has already accepted fault and apologised and investigation would not seek to achieve anything further.
-
North Northamptonshire Council (25 021 781)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Enforcement 03-Aug-2026
Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about the way the Council dealt with planning applications for demolishing garage blocks near his home. Complaints about matters which occurred before December 2024 are made too late and we have seen no reason why Mr X could not have raised these points sooner. The Council has granted retrospective planning permission for breaches of planning control occurring after this time, therefore further investigation will not lead to a different outcome. It is reasonable to expect Mr X to complain to the Information Commissioner if he believes the Council is withholding information. Finally, there is not enough evidence of fault in the way the Council dealt with the planning applications in 2025 and 2026 to justify an investigation.
-
London Borough of Merton (25 022 790)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Safeguarding 03-Aug-2026
Summary: We will not investigate Ms X’s complaint about the Council’s handling of a safeguarding adults enquiry. We would not be able to achieve significantly more by investigating and there would be no worthwhile outcome in doing so.
-
Durham County Council (25 022 986)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 03-Aug-2026
Summary: We will not investigate Miss X’s complaint about the Council’s works to clear vegetation from a local wood, and how it dealt with her complaint. There is not enough evidence of Council fault to warrant an investigation. We do not investigate councils’ complaint handling where we are not investigating the core issues which gave rise to the complaint.
-

-
Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council (25 023 801)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Child protection 03-Aug-2026
Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about the support provided by the Council to his child who was sectioned under the Mental Health Act. The Council upheld part of the complaint and an investigation by us is unlikely to achieve more. An investigation into Mr X’s complaint that an officer fell asleep during a supervised visit is unlikely to achieve any meaningful outcome.
