Health, Safety and Wellbeing Policy

Part 9

Health and Safety Training

Arrangements for training

The training information and instruction given by the LGSCO should enable employees or workers to have the necessary knowledge, skills of health and safety issues and relevant legislation appropriate for their work activities.

Adequate time will be allowed for employees and workers to acquire the necessary training and experience.

Legislation requires that training should consider the needs of new employees and existing employees, changes in work equipment, technology, systems of work and the need for periodic refresher courses.

Training needs analysis

The Operational Support Manager will liaise with the HR Business Partner to identify and provide the general health and safety training required by the LGSCO.

Training Provision

The Operational Support Manager will provide the general health and safety training directly or via the WorkRite e-learning portal.

Typically, these will include:

  • New Workers Induction (first day) to include emergency actions, first aid, etc
  • Display Screen Equipment User Training
  • Manual Handling Training
  • Stress Awareness Training

H&S Training Records

The Operational Support Coordinator in liaison with the HR Team will administer and keep records of all those who have successfully completed Health and Safety training courses.

Monitoring and Review

The Operational Support Manager will review the completion of general Health and Safety courses and report to the Wellbeing and Health and Safety Committee.
