Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Statement of Intent
The Commission for Local Administration in England’s policy is to:
-
maintain safe and healthy working conditions for all our employees and other persons affected by our undertaking;
-
provide a safe and appropriate working environment, equipment, welfare facilities, operating processes and safe systems of work covering all our activities so far as is reasonably practicable;
-
provide adequate control of the health and safety risks arising from our work activities;
-
provide information to ensure all workers are competent to do their tasks, and give them adequate instruction, supervision, and training;
-
consult with our employees on matters affecting their health and safety;
-
ensure safe handling and use of equipment and substances; and
- prevent accidents and cases of work-related ill health.
To support health and wellbeing at work we will encourage and facilitate working practices and services that enable employees to flourish and achieve their full potential for the benefit of themselves and the organisation by:
-
promoting health and wellbeing through our management policies and support services;

prevent, so far as is practicable, those circumstances detrimental to health and wellbeing;

provide a culture where all health and wellbeing issues can be discussed openly in a supportive way;
-
provide a working environment free from bias and stigma, and where staff who have health difficulties receive appropriate support and adjustments to allow them to achieve their fullest potential;
-
monitoring and reviewing indicators of organisational health and wellbeing, and to take steps to respond where issues are identified;
-
seeking to ensure that those who support or manage staff who are experiencing health and wellbeing issues are themselves supported as they respond to the needs of colleagues.

Improving understanding and awareness of health and wellbeing issues and the support available both within and outside of LGSCO;
As a Learning Organisation our commitment to this policy will assist us to develop a positive culture for health, safety, and wellbeing throughout all areas and activities.
