Health, Safety and Wellbeing Policy
Part 10
Health and Safety Monitoring
Monitoring
LGSCO will monitor the effectiveness of our response to the requirements of legislation and to regularly check our working areas and working methods.
LGSCO will ensure that there are suitable monitoring arrangements in all areas, which are undertaken on a regular basis. This will help to ensure that good safety standards are maintained and will help to quickly identify areas of concern and the action needed to control risks. The frequency of monitoring will reflect the potential risks in each area.
The Purpose of Monitoring
The purpose of monitoring is to:
- measure our performance in health and safety;
- identify any problem areas and health and safety works requiring attention;
- establish budgetary requirements for improving or maintaining safety standards and to allow for appropriate expenditure;
- demonstrate regular attention to health and safety and the LGSCO’s ‘due diligence’ in meeting its responsibilities; and
- enable the LGSCO to identify measures to continually improve its health and safety management.
Implementation and Operation
The Operational Support Manager is responsible for designing effective Health and Safety Monitoring arrangements.
- Monitoring of the LGSCO health and safety arrangements will be carried out in the following ways:
- Regular Inspections/Checks of the working areas to identify whether risk control measures are effective and whether any further action is needed to improve safety.
- Annual Report on Health and Safety Performance of the LGSCO as a whole will be prepared by Operational Support. This report will review the success of the Health and Safety Management System and identify any areas of concern. A Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Programme for the following year will be appended to the report with an appropriate action plan for maintaining/improving safety standards.
The annual report will be reviewed by the Wellbeing and Health and Safety Committee and will be submitted to the Commission, along with the programme for the following year.
