  • London Borough of Havering (25 002 638)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 23-Apr-2026

Summary: We will not investigate Miss X’s complaint about children services as we are unlikely to achieve a significantly different remedy than already provided.

  • London Borough of Camden (25 006 427)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Council tax 23-Apr-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about Ms X’s council tax account from 2022, discounts and reductions on her late relative’s account and queries about payments she made for council tax. This is because the complaints are late. We cannot investigate the council tax discount because Ms X has used her right of appeal to a tribunal. There is not enough evidence of fault in other matters to warrant investigation.

  • Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council (25 007 076)

Statement Upheld Special educational needs 23-Apr-2026

Summary: Ms L complains about the Council’s delay in putting in place support for her daughter after it issued an Education, Health and Care Plan. She also complains the Council agreed that its social worker would help her appeal the Plan, but then did not do so. We uphold the complaint due to significant missed provision and because Ms L did not get the support from the social worker, meaning she missed an appeal deadline. The Council has agreed to our recommendations for symbolic remedies and for updates from the Council.

  • Birmingham City Council (25 017 502)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Drainage 23-Apr-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about drainage because the court is better placed to consider the issues involved and it is reasonable to expect Mr Y to go to court about the matter. Further, as we are not investigating the substantive issue, it is not a good use of public resources to investigate how the Council dealt with the complaint.

  • Buckinghamshire Council (25 018 036)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Child protection 23-Apr-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint that the Council failed to act to safeguard the complainant’s child. The Council substantially upheld the complaint and the Ombudsman’s intervention would not lead to a significantly different outcome.

  • London Borough of Southwark (25 018 271)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Antisocial behaviour 23-Apr-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about an Anti-social behaviour case review meeting. It is unlikely we would find fault in the Council’s decision to pause and re-open the review process. And in any case, we cannot look at the actions it then took, to monitor the complaint. This is because the law does not allow us to investigate the actions the Council took, if it did so as a social housing provider.

  • London Borough of Harrow (25 018 483)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Looked after children 23-Apr-2026

Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about his claim the Council failed to provide leaving care support. The events are more than six years old and there are no good reasons the late complaint rule should not apply.

  • Central Bedfordshire Council (25 018 495)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Land 23-Apr-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s decision to refuse to hold a policy and governance review relating to a planning permission granted in 2020. It is too late to complain about the planning decision made six years ago. And we have not seen enough evidence of fault in the way the Council decided not to carry out a review.

  • Sheffield City Council (25 018 528)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Transport 23-Apr-2026

Summary: We will not investigate Ms X’s complaint about the Council's refusal to renew her disabled person’s travel pass. There is insufficient evidence of fault to warrant an investigation.

  • Sunderland City Council (25 019 804)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Council tax support 23-Apr-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s council tax support scheme. This is because the scheme can only be challenged at the High Court. Mr X also has the right to appeal to the Valuation Tribunal if he believes his claim was dealt with incorrectly.
