  • Buckinghamshire Council (25 025 341)

Statement Upheld Special educational needs 18-Jun-2026

Summary: We will not investigate Miss X’s complaint about delays in the Education Health and Care Plan process. This is because the Council has agreed to apologise to Miss X and pay her £100 per month for the delay. We consider this an appropriate remedy and further investigation is therefore unlikely to achieve anything more.

  • Wakefield Metropolitan District Council (25 025 582)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Child protection 18-Jun-2026

Summary: We will not investigate Ms X’s complaint about the Council’s actions and decisions in its child protection involvement with her family which is subject to ongoing care proceedings. This is because there is no sign of fault in the Council’s decision not to consider her complaint whilst the proceedings are ongoing.

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 18-Jun-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council charging more for burial costs to a non-resident person, than it does to one of its residents. The Council’s actions have not caused X a significant personal injustice and further investigation by us would not lead to a different outcome for X.

  • Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council (25 025 718)

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council charging more for burial costs to a non-resident person, than it does to one of its residents. The Council’s actions have not caused X a significant personal injustice and there is no worthwhile outcome achievable.

  • Essex County Council (25 025 783)

Statement Upheld Special educational needs 18-Jun-2026

Summary: We will not investigate Mrs X’s complaint about delays in the Education Health and Care Plan process. This is because the Council has agreed to apologise to Mrs X and pay her £100 per month for the delay. We consider this an appropriate remedy and further investigation is therefore unlikely to achieve anything more.

  • North Yorkshire Council (25 025 809)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Council tax 18-Jun-2026

Summary: We will not investigate Mrs X’s complaint about how the Council handled the recovery of council tax. This is because any injustice Mrs X may have suffered is not significant enough to justify investigating. Also, we are unlikely to add to the Council’s response or achieve a different outcome for Mrs X.

  • Hampshire County Council (25 000 060)

Statement Upheld Special educational needs 18-Jun-2026

Summary: We find the Council delayed making arrangements to secure all the provision in Z’s EHC Plan following the SEND Tribunal’s decision. This caused Mrs X and Z avoidable frustration and uncertainty. However, for the reasons set out in this statement, we cannot say this caused Z a significant injustice in terms of educational attainment. The Council has agreed to apologise to Mrs X and Z. We do not find fault in how the Council applied its unacceptable contact policy. There are parts of Mrs X’s complaint we cannot investigate. We explain why in this decision statement.

Statement Upheld Special educational needs 18-Jun-2026

The Council was at fault for delaying in completing an annual review and poor communication and complaint handling. This caused Mrs X and Y frustration and uncertainty. The Council has agreed to apologise, make a payment and make service improvements.

  • Shropshire Council (25 004 158)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 18-Jun-2026

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about a potential highway obstruction issue because the court are better placed to consider the issue, there is no worthwhile outcome achievable by our investigation, and it is not a good use of public resources to investigate how the Council dealt with Mr Y’s complaint.

  • Shropshire Council (25 007 360)

    Statement Upheld Alternative provision 18-Jun-2026

Summary: Mrs X complained the Council failed to provide education for her child Y, when she was unable to attend school and delayed completing an Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment. We found fault by the Council on both matters. The Council has agreed to apologise to Mrs X and Y and make a payment to recognise the injustice caused to them.
