Summary: Ms X complained the Council did not secure suitable accommodation when she fled domestic abuse in 2023 and subsequently disposed of her personal property. She said it caused significant mental anguish and distress and a large financial loss. We have decided to end the investigation because the matters occurred more than 12 months before Ms X complained to us and we cannot achieve the primary outcome she wants.

Summary: Mrs B complained about the Council closing her housing applications. We find that the Council did not clearly explain which documents she needed to provide. It also wrongly closed her second housing application as incomplete. These failings caused Mrs B avoidable frustration and inconvenience and delayed her ability to join the housing register. The Council has since assessed Mrs B’s application and backdated her registration date. The Council has also agreed to apologise and make a symbolic payment to Mrs B.

Summary: Miss X complains the Council incorrectly shared details of her vehicle following an incident she was not involved in. We found the Council at fault for sharing incorrect information. This error caused a financial impact, stress and inconvenience for Miss X. Her insurer has refunded the increase in her insurance premium, so Miss X has suffered no financial loss. The Council has apologised for the error, and this is a satisfactory remedy for the injustice caused.

Summary: Mr X complained about a Council parking notice. We found fault with the notice issued. The Council agreed to provide a suitable apology and waive the notice and amend the wording on future notices and associated documents and signage. The Council also agreed to complete a review of its current parking enforcement regime.

Summary: We find the Council at fault for delays in the education, health and care plan review process, delays implementing alternative educational provision, poor complaint handling, and poor communication. We have found fault sa there was a delay in the provision of adaptations which have still not been provided and there was fault in the decision-making process. The Council has agreed to review the decision, pay a financial remedy and carry out a service improvement.
