Summary

The complaint

Complaint from a woman that Community Care North East failed to refund money overpaid for her mother's care. The provider failed to respond to the woman's correspondence about the overpayments. It also failed to respond to our investigation into this complaint.

Recommendations

The Ombudsman recommended that Community Care North East:

  • write to the woman apologising for its failure to respond to her;
  • refunds £390.95; and
  • pays the woman £100 for the trouble it has put her to.

The provider has failed to respond to the Ombudsman's recommendations and has not taken the recommended action. The Ombudsman is therefore not satisfied with the provider's response and required the publication of the Adverse Findings Notice.
