  • Kingston Upon Hull City Council (22 010 019)

Statement Upheld Leisure and culture 26-Mar-2023

Summary: Mr X complains the Council did not have regard for its equality duties when implementing a scheme for people attending its theatre with their carers. Mr X also complains the Council did not properly address his concerns through its complaints procedure. We have not found the Council at fault for failing to consider the impact on individuals when devising its scheme. We have found fault in the Council’s response to Mr X’s complaint. We have made recommendations to remedy the injustice caused.

  • Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council (22 016 563)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Leisure and culture 23-Mar-2023

Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about the Council’s decision to increase allotment rental fees by over 200 percent. The Council Members have recently voted to reverse the decision and replace it with a lower increase in line with inflation. There is insufficient ongoing significant personal injustice to Mr X to warrant us investigating.

  • Worcester City Council (22 010 435)

Statement Upheld Leisure and culture 22-Mar-2023

Summary: There was fault by the Council as it failed to ensure that a leisure centre, managed on its behalf, had a customer complaints procedure. The lack of a definite process that should be followed has meant that Mr X feels uncertain whether all the facts were considered before he was banned from the leisure centre. Ensuring the leisure centre puts in place a complaints procedure and apologising to Mr X remedies his injustice. It is not possible to find out now whether a complaints process would have changed the outcome.
