  • Transport for London (20 007 472)

    Statement Not upheld Covid-19 12-Jul-2021

Summary: Mr X complained Transport for London (TfL) refused to issue a refund on his annual railcard for the period where he did not use it due to the COVID-19 national lockdown. Mr X lost money because he could not use his railcard for five months of the year. The Ombudsman found TfL acted without fault and was entitled to refuse Mr X’s refund request.

  • Hertfordshire County Council (20 009 130)

    Statement Not upheld Covid-19 30-Jun-2021

Summary: There was no fault in the Council’s decision to implement a road closure, as part of its response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although this limited access to some disabled parking bays, we are satisfied the Council considered its equality duties and ensured there was adequate provision elsewhere. In the absence of fault, we cannot recommend a remedy relating to any perceived loss of trade to the complainant’s business arising from the road closure.

  • Wokingham Borough Council (21 001 658)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Covid-19 28-Jun-2021

Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about the Council’s decision to refuse to refund the partial cost of his parking permit. This is because an investigation is unlikely to find the Council’s decision was affected by fault.

  • Hertsmere Borough Council (21 001 313)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Covid-19 17-Jun-2021

Summary: Mrs X complained about the Council’s decision to refund business permit holders for a period during the pandemic lockdown when parking enforcement was suspended. We will not investigate this complaint. This is because there is insufficient evidence of fault by the Council which would warrant an investigation.

  • South Gloucestershire Council (20 006 132)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Covid-19 18-May-2021

Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about the Council’s closure of his local high street. This is because the matter does not cause him significant personal injustice.

  • Eden District Council (20 013 984)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Covid-19 04-May-2021

Summary: We cannot investigate Mr X’s complaint about a coronavirus improvement notice issued by the Council as Mr X has challenged the notice at court. We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about a fixed penalty notice issued by the Council and the conduct of a council officer as there are other bodies better placed to deal with the issues.
