Summary: Mr X complains the Council failed to provide a live webcast service for his father’s funeral, despite previously advising this was available. This caused him and his family additional stress at a very upsetting time. The Ombudsman will not investigate this complaint. We have not seen evidence of fault in the Council’s decision not to provide a live webcast service. And we cannot investigate any action taken by the Council against a specific employee. It is therefore unlikely that we can add to the Council’s investigation nor achieve a different outcome.

Summary: Mrs X complained the Council went back on its decision to pay her after her employer, who received direct payments for care and support from the Council, stopped her pay while she was self-isolating during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ombudsman found the Council was at fault for providing the wrong advice, but it has already provided a suitable remedy.
