  • London Borough of Barking & Dagenham (20 014 026)

    Statement Upheld Licensing 28-Jul-2021

Summary: The complainant, Mrs X, complained the Council failed to properly exercise its powers over an unlicensed house in multiple occupation. The Council accepted it delayed action and that errors made resulted in it serving a further notice. We find the Council acted with fault and agreed a proportionate remedy.

  • Transport for London (21 002 590)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Licensing 23-Jul-2021

Summary: Mr X complained about the Council’s charging policy and fees for private hire licences. We will not investigate this complaint. This is because there is insufficient evidence of fault which would warrant an investigation.

  • Liverpool City Council (21 002 826)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Licensing 22-Jul-2021

Summary: Mr X complains the Council does not consult with taxi trade representatives. We will not investigate the complaint because we are unlikely to find evidence of fault by the Council.

  • London Borough of Camden (21 002 162)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Licensing 21-Jul-2021

Summary: Mr X complains the Council is wrong to list him on the rogue landlord and agent checker register. We will not investigate the complaint because we are unlikely to find evidence of fault.

  • London Borough of Camden (21 003 109)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Licensing 21-Jul-2021

Summary: We cannot investigate Mrs X’s complaint that the Council submitted an incomplete licence document for a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) she owns, to deliberately mislead her First Tier Tribunal appeal hearing against Civil Penalty Notices (CPNs) served on her by the Council. The licence document formed part of an appeal heard by a judge, which means we cannot investigate. Mrs X’s use of her Tribunal appeal right also means we cannot investigate any matters relating to the HMO, including documents submitted to be considered at the appeal.

  • Buckinghamshire Council (20 012 511)

    Statement Upheld Licensing 20-Jul-2021

Summary: Mr X complains about delay by the Council in renewing his badge which allows him to be a school transport driver. Mr X seeks compensation from the Council for lost earnings. We will not investigate as it is reasonable to expect Mr X to take court action for the compensation he seeks.

  • Cheshire West & Chester Council (20 014 161)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Licensing 20-Jul-2021

Summary: Mr X represents Mr Y. He complains the Council failed to investigate Mr Y’s concerns about bullying and intimidation by licensed taxi drivers. We will not investigate this complaint. The events complained about occurred more than 12 months ago so are therefore late. And we do not consider that a failure to follow the complaints procedure causes enough personal injustice to warrant our involvement.

  • Scarborough Borough Council (21 000 164)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Licensing 20-Jul-2021

Summary: We cannot not investigate this complaint about the revocation of Mr Y’s taxi license because Mr Y has appealed to the Magistrates Court.

  • Royal Borough of Greenwich (21 002 907)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Licensing 15-Jul-2021

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s handling of matters concerning the alleged running of a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) and the conduct of one of its officers. This is because it is unlikely an investigation would find fault or add to the Council’s own investigation.

  • North Devon District Council (21 002 141)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Licensing 12-Jul-2021

Summary: The complainant says the Council lied to the court to get a warrant and failed to consider his complaint properly. We cannot investigate what happened in court. And Mr X’s concerns about the complaint investigation are late.
