  • London Borough of Croydon (21 000 202)

    Statement Upheld Safeguarding 21-Feb-2022

Summary: Miss A complains the Council failed to safeguard her from financial abuse. Miss A also complains about the mental capacity assessment and how the Council handled the decisions about her accommodation, which resulted in her living with her family instead of her own accommodation. The Ombudsman finds fault with the Council for failing to act in a timely manner in safeguarding Miss A. The Ombudsman also finds fault with the Council for how it considered Miss A’s housing needs. This caused Miss A significant distress. The Ombudsman does not find fault with the Council for how it conducted the mental capacity assessment. The Council has agreed to pay a financial remedy and consider service improvements.

  • Norfolk County Council (21 014 938)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Safeguarding 21-Feb-2022

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about how the Council dealt with a request for a copy of a safeguarding report. This is because the Information Commissioner is better placed to deal with such matters. We cannot deal with the complaint about practices at a hospital because we do not have jurisdiction to investigate the NHS.

  • Liverpool City Council (21 013 963)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Safeguarding 10-Feb-2022

Summary: We will not investigate Mrs B’s complaint about the care her late mother, Mrs C, received from her Care Provider or the Council’s safeguarding investigation into concerns she raised about the care. This is because we are satisfied the Council considered Mrs B’s concerns under its responsibility for safeguarding vulnerable adults and further investigation could not make a finding of the kind Mrs B wants.

  • North Lincolnshire Council (21 013 699)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Safeguarding 03-Feb-2022

Summary: We will not investigate Mr B’s complaint about the Council’s safeguarding investigation into his concerns about his late mother’s, Mrs C’s care prior to her death. This is because there is not enough evidence of fault with the actions taken by the Council to warrant an Ombudsman investigation.
