    Summary: Mrs X complained about the Council’s failure to properly consider the effect of a major road construction scheme on her property. She also complains about its failure to keep her informed of progress on the scheme which resulted in her unnecessarily closing her letting business for 2019. The Ombudsman will not investigate this complaint. There is insufficient evidence of fault and we will not exercise discretion to consider any matters which took place outside the normal 12-month period for receiving complaints.

We cannot separate investigate the Council’s handling of the more recent application and we cannot effectively investigate the Council’s actions from more than 20 years ago.
