    Summary: Mrs X complains the transport provided by the Council for her daughter to attend school as late for a week. We found fault as Mrs X’s daughter missed the start of the school day. The Council has already apologised to Mrs X for any inconvenience caused which is a suitable remedy in this case. So, we are completing our investigation.

    Summary: Mrs B complained about delay by the Council in arranging suitable transport for her son C to get to school. She had to drive him herself for an additional two months and was left without sufficient funds to do so for two weeks. We find the Council at fault for delay on two occasions and it has agreed to pay Mrs B a total of £750.

    Summary: Mrs C complains that the Council has failed to provide suitable travel arrangements for her son, D, to the grammar school he attends. Aside from sending Mrs C a misleading decision letter in response to her initial application, the Ombudsman has not found fault in the way the Council handled her application or responded to her complaints about this. However, the Council should have told Mrs C that she could appeal when she continued to raise concerns about suitability of the transport. The Council has agreed to offer Mrs C an appeal, and the Ombudsman considers that it would be reasonable for Mrs C to use that appeal right.

    Summary: Mrs X complains the Council failed to properly address safeguarding and other concerns about a taxi company used by her daughter, Miss D. She says the Council failed to address her concerns properly because she complained about other issues. As Mrs X has not responded to our correspondence, we have discontinued our investigation into this complaint.

But the Ombudsman finds the Council at fault for delay and recommends a remedy for Mrs X’s distress and action to prevent recurrence.
