  • London Borough of Redbridge (20 000 778)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 07-Aug-2020

Summary: The Ombudsman will not investigate this complaint about a Family Assessment carried out by the Council’s children’s services. This is because there is nothing that he could add to the Council’s previous investigation, and he cannot challenge the merits of properly taken decisions.

  • Telford & Wrekin Council (19 009 269)

    Statement Upheld Other 27-May-2020

Summary: Mr X says the Council refused to examine its policy on school non-attendance when he queried whether it was compatible with equality legislation. He says he was fined under that policy for his son’s non-attendance at school unfairly. The Council has not shown it considered his complaint. Mr X was caused an injustice because he did not know if his complaint was properly considered and whether the outcome would have been different if it had. We have suggested a remedy, which the Council has accepted.

  • North Somerset Council (19 020 969)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 20-Apr-2020

Summary: The Ombudsman will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about the conduct of his school’s headteacher when he was a student. This is because we cannot consider complaints about what happens in schools.
