  • London Borough of Camden (18 019 682)

    Statement Upheld Other 19-Jun-2019

Summary: The Ombudsmen will not investigate Miss T’s complaint about the Council’s decision not to investigate her complaint about entitlement to aftercare under s117 of the Mental Health Act 1983. This is because the Council has now agreed to investigate Miss T’s complaint. This remedies the injustice caused to Miss T by the Council’s decision not to investigate these matters.

  • St Helens Metropolitan Borough Council (19 000 135)

    Statement Upheld Other 19-Jun-2019

Summary: Mr C complains that the Council delayed in informing him that his mother’s care home placement had been made permanent. The Council has accepted fault and agreed to a further financial remedy. The Ombudsman has discontinued his investigation on this basis.

  • Surrey County Council (19 001 583)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 19-Jun-2019

Summary: Mrs X complains the Council failed to consult with her about changes to her mother’s adult social care. The Ombudsman will not investigate her complaint. This is because there is not enough evidence of fault to warrant an investigation by the Ombudsman.

  • Worcestershire County Council (18 002 336)

    Statement Upheld Other 18-Jun-2019

Summary: Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust’s community mental health team took too long to rearrange a cancelled appointment. Also, it did not return Mrs A’s call after she raised concerns about her son’s mental health. This caused Mrs A distress. The Ombudsmen consider Worcestershire County Council and the community mental health team’s lack of communication after April 2015 was fault. However, there was no impact on Mr B.

  • West Berkshire Council (18 017 427)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 14-Jun-2019

Summary: The Ombudsman will not investigate Mr A’s complaint that the Council should have ensured his late partner, Ms B, responded to invitations to health care checks in 2015 and 2016. There is not enough evidence of fault with the actions taken by the Council to warrant an investigation by the Ombudsman, and we could not reach the decision Mr A wants because it is not an administrative matter.

  • Somerset County Council (18 001 076)

    Statement Not upheld Other 11-Jun-2019

Summary: Ms Y complains about the care and treatment provided to her daughter, Ms X, mostly over a period of six days. The Ombudsmen do not find good reasons to criticise the clinical decisions taken about her care. However, there is evidence of fault causing injustice in the way NHS England dealt with the complaint. To remedy the outstanding injustice, the Ombudsmen recommend NHS England offers a symbolic payment of £100 to Ms X’s mother, Ms Y, for the inconvenience caused by its delays.

  • Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council (18 016 240)

    Statement Not upheld Other 10-Jun-2019

Summary: Miss B complained about actions the Council took following the death of an estranged family member (Mrs C) in 2016. We cannot find fault in its actions.

  • Durham County Council (18 017 086)

    Statement Upheld Other 10-Jun-2019

Summary: The Council acknowledges there were some delays on its part which affected the sale progress of the house jointly owned by Mr and Mrs Y. It has apologised for any delays attributable to its actions, cleared any outstanding Council Tax arrears and offered to consider evidence of any other losses. That remedies any injustice caused to Mr Y.

  • West Sussex County Council (18 015 502)

    Statement Not upheld Other 05-Jun-2019

Summary: Mr X complains about the Council’s decision to transfer day centre services to other providers, causing injustice to his sister Mrs Y. The Ombudsman finds no fault in the Council’s decision making process.

  • Liverpool City Council (19 001 650)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 05-Jun-2019

Summary: Mr X complains the Council has not provided sufficient support for him and has not provided him with an advocate. The Ombudsman will not investigate the complaint because there is no evidence of fault and Mr X can use the services the Council has already signposted him to.
