The Council funded Ms X’s stair lift using its own funds rather than asking Ms X to apply for a Disabled Facilities Grant. This significantly quickened the process. The Council acted without delay and followed the relevant guidelines in approving and installing Ms X’s stair lift. The Council was not at fault.

    Summary: Mr X complained about the support provided to him with managing his finances, by a company acting on behalf of the Council. Mr X does not have capacity to manage his finances alone. There was a delay in setting up a payment arrangement with an energy supplier, two occasions when the company delayed putting spending money into Mr X’s account and delays in setting up savings payments for Mr X. This caused Mr X anxiety. The Council has agreed to apologise to Mr X and pay him £100 to acknowledge the anxiety the faults caused him. It has agreed to update Mr X on how it plans to help him manage his finances in future.
