Gloucestershire County Council (24 018 484)
Statement Not upheld Other 25-Nov-2025
Summary: We have discontinued our investigation into Mr X’s complaint. We could not add anything meaningful to the Council’s own complaint investigation, which has already upheld the complaint in full. And we cannot achieve the outcome Mr X wants, which is compensation for a loss of earnings and for other issues relating to his health. This is a matter for the courts, not the Ombudsman.
-
West Sussex County Council (25 007 824)
Statement Upheld Other 25-Nov-2025
Summary: Mr X complained the Council has not completed the stage 2 investigation within the time period allowed in the statutory complaint’s procedure. Mr X said this distressed him. There was fault in the way the Council delayed completing the stage two investigation. This distressed Mr X. The Council agreed to apologise, make a financial payment and complete the statutory complaint procedure.
-
Norfolk County Council (25 001 778)
Statement Not upheld Other 24-Nov-2025
Summary: The Council was not at fault for how it handled allegations made against Mr X, a teacher, by a child at his school. It followed correct procedure and allowed Mr X a fair opportunity to provide representations in support of his case.
-
Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council (25 010 677)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 24-Nov-2025
Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s handling of Mrs X’s data. The Information Commissioner’s Office is better placed to consider it.
-
Surrey County Council (25 004 513)
Statement Upheld Other 21-Nov-2025
Summary: Miss X complained about the way the Council dealt with her son, Y’s education. The Council was at fault for not considering Miss X’s complaint through the children’s statutory complaint procedure. This caused Miss X frustration and uncertainty. The Council agreed to apologise, make a payment to Miss X for the frustration and uncertainty this caused and consider her complaint further.
-
Halton Borough Council (25 013 797)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 21-Nov-2025
Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about Ms X’s contact with the Council and its complaints handling. The Council has already investigated under the complaint procedures, and further investigation would not lead to a different outcome.
-
Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council (25 009 304)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 20-Nov-2025
Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about the contact arrangements in place for his child. This is because these are matters that have been decided by the courts. If Mr X believes the Council are in breach of a court order it is reasonable for him to raise this in court.
-
Peterborough City Council (25 015 102)
Statement Upheld Other 20-Nov-2025
Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s decision on modifications to a property. This is because Mr X complained about this under the three stage children’s act complaint procedures and the Council has not completed all three stages of that procedure. It would now be reasonable for Mr X to complete that procedure. Nor will we investigate the delays in the Council’s consideration of the complaint under that procedure, because we are satisfied the Council has agreed to provide an appropriate remedy for Mr X’s injustice caused by delays.
-
Hampshire County Council (25 003 993)
Statement Not upheld Other 18-Nov-2025
Summary: We have discontinued our investigations into Miss X’s complaints about a lack of education offered to her son, and about how she and her son were treated by the Council’s children’s social care service. The Council has already accepted fault for her son’s lack of education and has offered a suitable remedy. And there has already been an independent investigation into her social care complaint. It is unlikely further investigation of either issue would lead to different outcomes for her.
-
Hampshire County Council (25 007 394)
Statement Not upheld Other 18-Nov-2025
Summary: We have discontinued our investigation. The Council has now agreed to consider Mr X’s concerns under the statutory complaints procedure and will issue a response in line with its data protection obligations. We are satisfied the Council’s proposed action is an appropriate way forward, and further investigation by the Ombudsman is not warranted at this stage.
