Lancashire County Council (25 011 123)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Disabled children 10-Feb-2026
Summary: We will not investigate Mrs X’s complaint about the lack of Children’s social care support. The Council gave her a route to a Council assessment, and we are unlikely to achieve significantly more.
-
Surrey County Council (25 005 335)
Statement Upheld Disabled children 06-Feb-2026
Summary: The Council was at fault for the way it decided Mrs X’s application and appeal for a Blue Badge for her disabled child. This caused Mrs X injustice. The Council has agreed to make a fresh decision.
-
Surrey County Council (25 010 688)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Disabled children 15-Jan-2026
Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about the Council’s handling of a Blue Badge application for his child. The Council has now issued a Blue Badge. An investigation would not lead to a different outcome.
-
Sheffield City Council (25 000 249)
Statement Upheld Disabled children 14-Jan-2026
Summary: The Council has accepted fault in that it did not carry out a parent/carer’s needs assessment as requested by the complainant. The complainant did not consider the Council recognised the avoidable distress which this had caused her and her family. We have recommended a way to remedy that injustice which the Council has accepted. Therefore, we have completed our investigation and are closing the complaint.
-
Birmingham City Council (25 010 207)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Disabled children 05-Jan-2026
Summary: We will not investigate Mr F’s complaint about the care provided for his son because there is nothing we could add to the independent investigation that has already been carried out, and our involvement would not lead to a different outcome.
-
Leicester City Council (25 010 310)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Disabled children 23-Dec-2025
Summary: We will not investigate Mrs X’s complaint about a carer’s assessment and the support provided by the Council because we could not add to the previous independent investigation, and we could not achieve the outcome Mrs X wants.
-
Norfolk County Council (25 001 573)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Disabled children 22-Dec-2025
Summary: We will not investigate Ms X’s complaint about a lack of support from the Council’s children’s services. It is reasonable for her to request a stage three review under the statutory children’s complaints procedure.
-
Bracknell Forest Council (24 021 624)
Statement Upheld Disabled children 19-Dec-2025
Summary: Mrs X complained about the Council’s handling of her request for a parent carers assessment, the children’s statutory complaints process, and how it communicated with her. Overall, we agreed with the Council’s stage two findings. However, the remedy proposed was not adequate to acknowledge the impact its delays had on her, and it did not consider the significantly delayed complaints handling. The Council will apologise, make a symbolic payment, and carry out service improvements recommendations.
-
London Borough of Newham (25 008 800)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Disabled children 16-Dec-2025
Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s handling of Mrs Y’s application to renew her child’s blue badge. We could not add to the Council’s appeal findings, there is not enough evidence of fault to justify our investigation, and any injustice is not significant enough to justify our involvement.
-
London Borough of Lambeth (24 016 731)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Disabled children 15-Dec-2025
Summary: We will not investigate Mr F’s complaint because the Council agreed to appoint an independent investigator and consider his complaint at the second stage of the statutory children’s complaints process. The reason Mr F’s complaint has not progressed is because Mr F refused the Council’s offer, not because of anything the Council has done.
