Summary: Mr X complained that the Council refused his application for a Blue Badge. We found the Council incorrectly interpreted the guidance in failing to give Mr X the opportunity to provide supporting information from his GP. In recognition of the injustice caused, the Council has agreed to invite Mr X to submit information from his GP in support of his application and to reassess the application considering all the information provided.

Summary: Ms C complained the Council did not consider properly her son’s disability related expenses when deciding the amount he must contribute towards the cost of his care. Ms C said this means her son is not getting the support he needs and his mental health has deteriorated. We have found fault in some of the Council’s communication and avoidable delay but consider the agreed action of an apology and symbolic payment provides a suitable remedy.

Summary: Mr X complained the Council acted beyond its authority, and contrary to its constitution, when it granted planning permission to develop land near his home using delegated powers. Mr X also complained the Council failed to remedy breaches of planning control at the site due to delays, lack of action, and undue leniency towards the developer. We did not investigate the Council’s decision to grant planning permission. There was no fault in the Council’s consideration of the planning enforcement issues.
