Summary: Mr B complained that the London Borough of Bromley failed to deal properly with his approaches to them for help when he was threatened with homelessness in 2019. He complained that initially the Council failed to accept a duty when his landlord wrote to him to ask him to leave. He also complained that later, although it did agree to provide some help, the Council still failed to effectively and promptly secure accommodation for him and his family until he complained, which was over a year after he first approached it for help.

There was fault in how the Council responded to Ms B’s complaint which caused some injustice to her.

Summary: Miss K complained the Council abruptly moved her without enough notice to another temporary accommodation. She also said the new accommodation was unsuitable. We found the Council at fault for failing to give Miss K enough notice about the move and properly consider the impact this caused her. The Council agreed make payment to Miss K to acknowledge the distress and additional removal costs its short notice caused her. It also agreed she can request for a suitability review if she wishes to do so now.
