  • London Borough of Lambeth (23 008 126)

    Statement Upheld Covid-19 02-Apr-2024

Summary: Mr X complained about how the Council decided it would not offer him accommodation while he was homeless. The Council took too long to act when it owed Mr X the relief duty and too long to decide whether to offer Mr X interim accommodation. This caused Mr X frustration and uncertainty for which the Council will apologise.

  • London Borough of Lambeth (23 010 082)

    Statement Upheld Homelessness 07-Apr-2024

Summary: Miss X complained about the Council’s failure to provide suitable temporary accommodation when she became homeless. We found the Council to be at fault. It took long to carry out a suitability review and a result Miss X lived in unsuitable accommodation for longer than she should. The Council has agreed to apologise and make a payment to remedy the injustice to Miss X.

  • London Borough of Lambeth (23 005 824)

Statement Upheld Parking and other penalties 24-Apr-2024

Summary: Mr X complained the Council failed to make reasonable adjustments to help him challenge a penalty charge notice he received. We found there was fault causing injustice when the Council failed to engage with Mr X about his request for reasonable adjustments. The Council cancelled the penalty charge notice, made service improvements, and agreed to provide Mr X a financial remedy.

  • London Borough of Lambeth (23 011 925)

    Statement Upheld Noise 08-May-2024

Summary: Mr X complains about how the Council has dealt with his concerns about noise nuisance from events held at a hall which is close to his home. He also complains about the Council’s poor communication with him. There were some faults by the Council which caused injustice to Mr X. The Council will take action to remedy the injustice caused.

  • London Borough of Lambeth (23 020 311)

    Statement Upheld Council tax 12-May-2024

Summary: We will not investigate Mrs X’s complaint about Council Tax bills. We have upheld Mrs X’s complaint as the Council has now agreed to issue clear bills.

  • London Borough of Lambeth (23 020 510)

    Statement Upheld Residential care 13-May-2024

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about adult social care in a residential care home. This is because the Care Provider has accepted fault, apologised, waived outstanding care fees, and said what action it will take to improve service. It is unlikely an Ombudsman investigation would lead to a different outcome.

  • London Borough of Lambeth (23 002 645)

    Statement Upheld Allocations 15-May-2024

Summary: Mrs X complained about how the Council considered her complaint about the suitability of her temporary accommodation and responded to her complaint about the matter. The Council delayed in considering the suitability of Mrs X’s temporary accommodation and did not respond to her complaint properly. The Council will apologise, pay Mrs X £1000 to recognise the injustice caused to her and complete a suitability review of her temporary accommodation.

  • London Borough of Lambeth (23 007 765)

Statement Upheld Council tax support 15-May-2024

Summary: The Council was at fault for delay dealing with Ms X’s application for council tax support. The Council was also at fault for failing to write to Ms X in large print despite two previous complaints to the Ombudsman. The Council has agreed to apologise, make a payment to Ms X, and act to improve its services.

  • London Borough of Lambeth (23 013 405)

    Statement Upheld Homelessness 20-May-2024

Summary: Miss B complains the Council gave incorrect information regarding her rent charge for temporary accommodation. Because of this she now has to pay an extra £51 each week. The Council has remedied the injustice caused by its fault.

  • London Borough of Lambeth (23 012 496)

    Statement Upheld Homelessness 02-Jun-2024

Summary: There was delay in offering Miss X temporary accommodation after the main housing duty was accepted. A payment towards her inconvenience remedies the injustice. Giving Miss X a new decision on the suitability of the temporary accommodation in writing will enable Miss X to ask for review of its suitability.
