Find out more about service improvements

When we find fault, we can recommend improvements to systems and processes where they haven’t worked properly, so that others do not suffer from these same problems in future. Common examples are policy changes; procedural reviews; and staff training. Service improvements from decisions are published for 5 years and those from reports are published for 10 years.

    Category: Planning Date: 24-Jul-2024

    Summary

Mrs X complained about the Council’s response when she reported breaches of planning permission on a development site near her home. She also complained that the Council failed to follow due process when granting planning permission to increase the number of houses on the site. We found the Council was at fault in failing to update Mrs X and in failing to show it considered case law she referred to. The Council has agreed to apologise to Mrs X. We did not uphold the remainder of Mrs X’s complaint.

    Service improvements

The Council has agreed to review what happened and decide whether any changes to practice or procedure are needed, or whether additional training is necessary.
