Find out more about service improvements

When we find fault, we can recommend improvements to systems and processes where they haven’t worked properly, so that others do not suffer from these same problems in future. Common examples are policy changes; procedural reviews; and staff training. Service improvements from decisions are published for 5 years and those from reports are published for 10 years.

  • Buckinghamshire Council (22 011 279)

Category: Transport and highways Date: 05-Jun-2023

    Summary

Miss X complained the Council was taking too long to process her disabled parking space application and of poor communication. We found fault with the Council’s communication but not its processes or the overall time it may take to complete them. To remedy the injustice caused by this fault, the Council agreed to apologise to Miss X and make a payment to her.

    Service improvements

The Council will share the Ombudsman's guidance on effective complaint handling for local authorities with officers handling complaints. This will help to ensure complaints are dealt with in a clear and timely manner and ensure that the Council apologises when it has got things wrong.
