Find out more about service improvements

When we find fault, we can recommend improvements to systems and processes where they haven’t worked properly, so that others do not suffer from these same problems in future. Common examples are policy changes; procedural reviews; and staff training. Service improvements from decisions are published for 5 years and those from reports are published for 10 years.

    Summary

Mr X complained about the Council’s failure to maintain a high hedge it owned behind his property. We found the Council did not apply the correct legislation or act according to its duties around high hedge complaints; this is fault. The faults caused Mr X frustration, time and trouble. The Council has agreed to apologise to Mr X, consider his concerns using the appropriate legislation, policy and guidance and review staff awareness around high hedge complaints.

    Service improvements

The Council will review available information and provision of training about high hedge complaints to relevant staff to ensure awareness of relevant law and policy.
