Find out more about service improvements

When we find fault, we can recommend improvements to systems and processes where they haven’t worked properly, so that others do not suffer from these same problems in future. Common examples are policy changes; procedural reviews; and staff training. Service improvements from decisions are published for 5 years and those from reports are published for 10 years.

    Summary

Miss X complained the Council repeatedly missed recycling and food waste collections from her property causing avoidable frustration and inconvenience. We have found fault by the Council but consider the agreed action of a symbolic payment, further monitoring and review of its arrangements to manage contractual compliance provides a suitable remedy.

    Service improvements

The Council will review its waste and recycling contract arrangements and how compliance is monitored to ensure systemic issues are picked up and addressed at an earlier stage.
