Find out more about service improvements

When we find fault, we can recommend improvements to systems and processes where they haven’t worked properly, so that others do not suffer from these same problems in future. Common examples are policy changes; procedural reviews; and staff training. Service improvements from decisions are published for 5 years and those from reports are published for 10 years.

    Summary

Ms X complains about the way the Council dealt with her complaints of noise nuisance from a neighbouring property causing distress. We found fault in the way the Council responded to Ms X’s complaints as it failed to send her case closed letters. But this did not cause Ms X a significant injustice. There is no evidence of fault by the Council in its noise nuisance investigation and in making a decision there was no ongoing statutory nuisance. So, we are completing our investigation.

    Service improvements

The Council should remind officers of the need to follow its noise policy and issue case closed letters when appropriate.
