Decision search What's this ? close Use 'advanced search' to refine your search results. You can also browse decisions by subject further down the page. Decision statements are kept for 5 years. Public interest reports, where we highlight systemic and serious issues, are kept for 10 years. We issue our decisions as statements of reason on most of our cases. This is where we are satisfied with the actions a council has taken or proposes to take as a result of our investigation and recommendations, or when we decide not to investigate a complaint, or end an investigation. In a small number of investigations, particularly those with wider public interest, we will issue a report. If we decide it is in the public interest we will also publish the report. This means the organisation involved must make a public announcement about our findings, and we will promote the report in the media. We might do this where we decide it is in the public interest to highlight particular issues or problems or where what went wrong is significant and the impact on the person complaining (or on other people) is significant. We must also issue (and decide whether to publish) a report if we are not satisfied with the action the organisation has taken or proposes to take in response to our recommendations.
