    Statement Not upheld Homelessness 05-Mar-2020

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Antisocial behaviour 25-Feb-2020

Summary: Mr X complained about how the Council dealt with his and his neighbour’s security lights. We will not investigate this late complaint. This is because Mr X could have complained to the Ombudsman sooner and he has not raised a new complaint with the Council since 2016.

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 23-Dec-2019

Statement Closed after initial enquiries School transport 07-Dec-2019

Summary: The Ombudsman will not investigate Mr A’s complaint that the Council contracts with an unsuitable operator for its school transport service. The complaint is late and there are insufficient grounds for the Ombudsman to consider it now.

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Parking and other penalties 06-Nov-2019

Summary: The Ombudsman will not investigate Miss X’s complaint about a penalty charge notice issued by the Council. The Council was not at fault for issuing the notice and if Miss X disputes it, it would be reasonable for her to appeal.

  • North Lincolnshire Council (19 010 429)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 23-Oct-2019

Summary: Mrs X complains about the way the Council’s Planning Committee considered a planning application. The Ombudsman will not investigate this complaint because there is no injustice to warrant investigation as planning permission has not been granted yet.

  • North Lincolnshire Council (19 007 664)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Enforcement 07-Oct-2019

Summary: The Ombudsman will not investigate this complaint about how the Council investigated a possible breach of planning control. This is because it is unlikely he will find fault by the Council and the complainant has not been caused injustice.

  • North Lincolnshire Council (18 013 800)

Statement Upheld Looked after children 17-Sep-2019

Summary: Ms X complained about how the Council handled the cases of her two children who are subject to care orders. The Council was at fault as it took too long to respond to Ms X’s complaint, for which it has already apologised. It delayed taking substantive action when the court ordered it to arrange contact between Ms X and one of her children, causing Ms X stress and frustration. The Council was also at fault as it delayed considering Ms X’s request for family therapy and then did not clearly communicate its decision not to arrange this. This caused confusion for Ms X. The Council has agreed to apologise and pay Ms X £150.

  • North Lincolnshire Council (19 003 517)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 01-Aug-2019

Summary: The Ombudsman will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about the Council’s handling of a planning application. This is because there is not enough evidence of fault by the Council to warrant investigation.
