  • North Lincolnshire Council (22 009 758)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Adoption 02-Nov-2022

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about an alleged data breach and the Council’s response to the complainant’s subsequent representations. This is because the Information Commissioner’s Office is better placed than the Ombudsman to consider the substantive matter.

  • North Lincolnshire Council (21 019 054)

    Statement Upheld Council tax 19-Sep-2022

Summary: Mr B complained about the way in which the Council responded to his application for council tax exemptions. We found the Council delayed in responding to his queries about two exemptions, then raised his expectations he would receive an exemption and refund, only to change its mind two months later. It exacerbated the fault by failing to inform him of this decision for a further two months. It also left a case with the bailiffs for too long the following year and failed to recognise the impact its failures had on Mr B’s ability to pay the debt. The Council has agreed to write off £65 costs, pay Mr B £500 and review its communication and recording systems for the future.

  • North Lincolnshire Council (22 004 966)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Enforcement 11-Aug-2022

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about how the Council dealt with a breach of planning control. This is because we are unlikely to find fault.

  • North Lincolnshire Council (21 011 046)

    Statement Upheld Other 21-Jul-2022

Summary: Mr C complained that the Council was at fault for its failure to provide him with support in his dealings with a private care provider and for the failures of that supplier. He also said the Council failed to process his application for financial assistance with the cost of his care. The Council accepted it was at fault for a failure to provide Mr C with support and assessment while he was receiving his care. This fault caused injustice to Mr C in the form of distress and anxiety. The Council has agreed to apologise to Mr C and pay him a sum in recognition of that fault. It will also review its procedures to ensure that similar fault does not happen again.

  • North Lincolnshire Council (22 004 855)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 14-Jul-2022

Summary: We cannot investigate Mr B’s complaint that a Council officer was rude to him when he parked his car in a public car park. This is because the officer was not performing an administrative function of the Council when the incident happened.

  • North Lincolnshire Council (22 002 272)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 25-May-2022

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council disclosing personal details. This is because this matter is best dealt with by the Information Commissioner’s Office.

  • North Lincolnshire Council (22 001 333)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Pollution 12-May-2022

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s response to his report of his neighbour dismantling and storing asbestos material. There is insufficient evidence of fault which would warrant an investigation.

  • North Lincolnshire Council (21 018 075)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Child protection 11-Apr-2022

Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about children services attempts to safeguard a child. It is unlikely we would find fault and we cannot achieve the outcome he seeks.

  • North Lincolnshire Council (21 018 661)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Councillor conduct and standards 29-Mar-2022

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about how the Council’s Monitoring Officer dealt with a complaint about the conduct of a councillor. This is because we are unlikely to find fault.

  • North Lincolnshire Council (21 016 715)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Leisure and culture 16-Mar-2022

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about gym memberships because there is insufficient evidence of fault by the Council.
