Surrey County Council (25 008 644)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Transition from childrens services 22-Jan-2026
Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about failures in communication about adult social care support. The injustice is not enough to justify our involvement. We are satisfied with the actions the Council has already taken to apologise and offer to meet, and it is unlikely we would achieve anything further.

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council (25 008 704)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 22-Jan-2026
Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s response to reports of fly tipping. This is because the Council has now taken action and further investigation by us is unlikely to achieve a different or more meaningful outcome.

Cumberland Council (25 008 907)
Statement Upheld Special educational needs 22-Jan-2026
Summary: There was fault by the Council. The Council delayed carrying out an annual review of an Education, Health and Care Plan. The Council also delayed making a decision on whether or not to make direct payments. This meant that two children received no educational provision from Section F of their Education, Health and Care Plan for one term and limited provision for two further terms. An apology, symbolic payment and review of procedures remedies the injustice to the family.

London Borough of Newham (25 008 922)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Homelessness 22-Jan-2026
Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s provision of suitable temporary accommodation over the past 9 years and its failure to determine a suitability review in 2025. This complaint was received outside the normal 12-month period for investigating complaints. There is no evidence to suggest that Miss X could not have complained to us sooner about her previous accommodation. We will not investigate the non-determination of the review because she could have appealed about this to the County Court.
-
Royal Borough of Greenwich (25 009 687)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 22-Jan-2026
Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s valuation of a property Mr X wanted to sell it, under a ‘buy back’ scheme. This is because the Council’s actions have not caused Mr X a significant injustice and we cannot achieve the outcome Mr X is looking for.
-
Peterborough City Council (25 009 840)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Disabled facilities grants 22-Jan-2026
Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about the Council’s handling of disabled adaptations. The complaint is late and there are no good reasons to investigate now. Further, there is insufficient evidence of fault by the Council to justify our involvement.
-
West Lancashire Borough Council (25 010 672)
Statement Closed after initial enquiries Allocations 22-Jan-2026
Summary: We will not investigate Ms X’s complaint about the priority the Council has applied to her housing application. This is because there is not enough evidence of fault to justify an investigation.
-
London Borough of Haringey (24 008 108)
Statement Upheld Transition from childrens services 22-Jan-2026
Summary: Ms Y complained about the Council’s support for her late son, Z, and the standard of support by the service provider the Council commissioned to deliver Z’s support. We have found fault causing injustice by the Council in failing to: properly monitor the service provider’s support for Z and take effective action to address this; and ensure there was an appropriate plan in place to respond to concerns about Z’s safety. We have also found fault with the service provider in the way it delivered Z’s support. The Council has agreed to remedy this injustice by apologising to Ms Y for the extreme distress caused, making a payment to recognise this distress, and a service improvement.

Leicestershire County Council (24 015 526)
Statement Not upheld Special educational needs 22-Jan-2026
Summary: I have not found evidence of fault by the Council in failing to secure special educational provision in an Education, Health and Care Plan between January and June 2024. I cannot investigate the period June to October 2024; this is outside our jurisdiction due to an overlapping appeal to Tribunal.
-
Rossendale Borough Council (24 017 292)
Statement Not upheld Homelessness 22-Jan-2026
Summary: Miss X complained about the Council’s handling of her homelessness and housing application and that it did not provide reasonable adjustments to allow her to understand the process. There was no evidence fault in the Councils actions. It considered Miss X’s individual needs in its decision making and provided her with support. There was no fault in its offer of Bed and Breakfast accommodation to prevent Miss X’s homelessness.
