  • Epping Forest District Council (24 022 516)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Enforcement 09-Jun-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s failure to take enforcement action against a reported breach of planning control. There is not enough evidence of fault in the Council’s actions to justify an investigation.

  • Cheshire West & Chester Council (24 022 590)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Special educational needs 09-Jun-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about delay following the annual review of an Education, Health and Care Plan. An investigation by the Ombudsman would not lead to a different outcome and so our further involvement is not warranted.

  • Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea (24 022 785)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Child protection 09-Jun-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the actions of staff working on behalf of the Council when Mr X’s child was kicked by an older child who should not have been present. Investigation by us would not be likely to add to the Council’s own investigation or lead to the outcome Mr X is seeking.

  • Plymouth City Council (25 001 387)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Refuse and recycling 09-Jun-2025

Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about the Council’s policy to charge a £21 delivery fee for replacement bins. The claimed injustice is not significant enough to warrant an investigation.

  • London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham (25 001 655)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Refuse and recycling 09-Jun-2025

Summary: We will not investigate Miss X’s complaint about damage caused to her wall during a waste collection in late 2024. This is because it is reasonable to expect Miss X to take the matter to court.

  • Manchester City Council (25 001 899)

    Statement Upheld Other 09-Jun-2025

Summary: Mr X complained the Council failed to involve him properly when it delivered support to his child. Mr X also complained about how the Council handled his complaint. We found the Council was at fault. Mr X has not had the opportunity to have his complaint properly considered via the children’s statutory complaints procedure. This caused undue delay and frustration for Mr X. The Council will start stage two of the children’s statutory complaints procedure without delay. It will also apologise to Mr X and make a symbolic payment to him.

  • Chanctonbury Healthcare (Weymouth) Limited (25 001 995)

    Statement Upheld Charging 09-Jun-2025

Summary: Mr H complains on behalf of his mother that a care provider has not refunded fees they paid it for a period a council subsequently also paid it for. We uphold the complaint, as the care provider has not responded to Mr H’s contacts. But the care provider is in administration so cannot provide the remedy we recommended.

  • Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council (25 002 290)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Council tax 09-Jun-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about Council tax exemptions because there is a right of appeal to a Valuation Tribunal.

  • Suffolk County Council (25 002 295)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Child protection 09-Jun-2025

Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint that the Council did not remove him from an abusive environment in the 1970s and 1980s. This is because the complaint is late, and the events are historic so we could not complete a sufficient investigation.

  • Swindon Borough Council (25 002 566)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Council tax 09-Jun-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about Council tax because there is insufficient evidence of fault and the injustice would not warrant investigation. There is also a right of appeal to a Valuation Tribunal against any liability dispute.
