Statement Closed after initial enquiries Trees 29-Jan-2026
Summary: We will not investigate Mrs X’s complaint about the Council’s Tree Preservation Order (TPO) processes and decisions regarding a tree on her property which she sought to remove. There is not enough evidence of Council fault to warrant us investigating. Even if there was fault, there is insufficient significant claimed injustice to Mrs X from the matters complained to justify an investigation. It would not be unreasonable for Mrs X to seek planning permission to fell the tree and appeal any Council refusal to the Planning Inspectorate.

Statement Upheld Homelessness 29-Jan-2026
Summary: Miss X complained about delays and errors in the way the Council has dealt with both her homelessness application and her application for the housing register. We found there were significant delays and errors in the way the Council progressed Miss X’s homeless application which amount to fault. The Council’s failure to complete a review of Miss X’s request for medical priority is also fault. Miss X has experienced uncertainty and distress and incurred financial expense as a result of this fault. The Council will apologise and make payments to Miss X and carry out service improvements.

East Lindsey District Council (24 023 284)
Statement Upheld Refuse and recycling 28-Jan-2026
Summary: Mr X complained about the Council not collecting his bins, and the reasons for its decision to offer him an alternative point for his waste to be collected. We found the Council at fault as it had not properly recorded evidence to support its decisions or shown consideration of Mr X’s concerns around the suitability of the collection point. This caused Mr X frustration and inconvenience. The Council has agreed to apologise to Mr X, reconsider the situation and make a new decision.
