  • Bristol City Council (24 006 951)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Allocations 01-Sep-2024

Summary: We will not investigate Ms X’s complaint about how the Council handled her housing situation because there is insufficient evidence of fault to justify our involvement. Ms X had the right to ask for a review of the Council’s recent decision to change her priority band and it was reasonable for her do so.

  • Bristol City Council (23 014 040)

Statement Upheld Assessment and care plan 26-Aug-2024

Summary: We uphold this complaint finding the Council at fault for not completing a carer’s assessment. This caused injustice to the complainant as distress, arising from uncertainty and frustration. The Council accepts these findings and has agreed to apologise.

  • Bristol City Council (24 005 722)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 22-Aug-2024

Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint that the Council refused to remove a build-up of leaf mould from the area outside a garage he rents from the Council. There is not enough evidence of injustice for us to investigate.

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 21-Aug-2024

Summary: We will not investigate Mrs X’s complaint that the Council charged her for mooring her boat when she was unable to leave due to bad weather. There is not enough evidence of fault to justify an investigation.

  • Bristol City Council (23 013 816)

Statement Not upheld Domiciliary care 20-Aug-2024

Summary: There was no fault in how the Care Provider or the Council handled matters, when Miss B complained about the arrangements for her care, and that a carer had been racist, or when the Care Provider gave Miss B notice that it would stop providing her care.

  • Bristol City Council (23 017 134)

Statement Upheld Special educational needs 20-Aug-2024

Summary: The Council failed to make the provision set out in a child’s Education Health and Care Plan when his school placement broke down, including speech and language therapy. The Council made some alternative provision in this time, but it did not consider fully whether this was suitable or a full-time provision. The Council has agreed to take action to remedy the injustice to the child and his family.

  • Bristol City Council (23 018 415)

    Statement Upheld Antisocial behaviour 19-Aug-2024

Summary: Ms X complained about the way the Council dealt with her reports of anti-social behaviour. The Council failed to properly monitor and keep Ms X updated on the actions of the ASB case review. The Council’s complaint handling and communication was also inadequate. These faults caused Ms X distress, frustration and uncertainty. The Council has already apologised and offered a financial remedy for complaint handling. The Council will make a further payment to recognise the personal injustice to Ms X and remind staff of the statutory guidance on ASB case reviews.

  • Bristol City Council (24 007 271)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Planning applications 19-Aug-2024

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about how the Council dealt with the complainant’s planning application. This is because the complainant had the right to appeal to the Planning Inspector.

  • Bristol City Council (24 005 465)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Assessment and care plan 14-Aug-2024

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s decisions relating to Mrs Y’s care and the associated charges. Parts of the complaint have already been considered and decided. Other parts are late and there is not a good reason for the delay in Mr X bringing the matter to the Ombudsman.

  • Bristol City Council (24 004 528)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Parking and other penalties 07-Aug-2024

Summary: We will not investigate Miss X’s complaint about the behaviour of an enforcement agent when she spoke with them over the phone. She says the agent swore at her. This is because an investigation would not lead to any different findings or outcomes.
