Summary: Miss X complained the Council failed to acknowledge her complaint about the suitability of her accommodation. We find the Council at fault for a delay in completing its assessment of Miss X’s medical needs. The delay caused Miss X uncertainty and frustration, however the assessment result was backdated which remedied the injustice caused by the delay.

Summary: Mrs X complained about the Council’s handling of her late mother’s care. We found fault because the Council was too slow to begin assessment and planning processes, too slow to share care cost information and did not always follow up on actions or effectively communicate with Mrs X. This caused her avoidable distress, frustration and uncertainty. To remedy this injustice, the Council has agreed to apologise and make a symbolic payment to her.

We find the Council at fault for failing to complete the actions agreed in its complaint response. This has caused Mrs X distress and frustration. The Council has agreed to clear the gulleys and apologise to Mrs X for the delay.

Summary: Mrs X complained the Council has failed to adequately meet Miss Y’s care and support needs, and to safeguard her from neglect and abuse. We found the Council’s failure to hold a safeguarding planning meeting or complete comprehensive risk assessments was fault. As was the failure to ensure Miss Y received all of the support set out in her support plan. These faults have caused Miss Y and Mrs X an injustice. The Council will apologise and make payments to Miss Y and Mrs X to remedy this.

Summary: We will not investigate Miss X’s complaint about the Council failing to tell her of her son’s requirement to contribute towards the cost of his care. This is because there is insufficient evidence of fault. In addition, an investigation would not lead to any further findings or outcomes.
