Ombudsman responds to Committee report

Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman, Michael King has welcomed the Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee's recommendation to revisit Ombudsman reform in its report about the Parliamentary and Health Services Ombudsman.

He said:

“We are pleased the Committee has highlighted the value and urgent need for Ombudsman reform and would welcome any move to place the item back on the public agenda.

“We have always been an advocate for making the complaints process more streamlined and easier to navigate for the public when things go wrong with the services they receive.  People in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland already have access to a single public services ombudsman; we would welcome the same joined-up approach for people in England.  We will continue to offer our support to Parliament should the potential new legislation be given more scrutiny.”
