  • Lancashire County Council (25 004 609)

Statement Upheld Special educational needs 03-Sep-2025

Summary: We have upheld Miss X’s complaint because the Council delayed issuing a final Education Health and Care Plan for her child. The Council has agreed to resolve the complaint by offering to make a suitable payment to Miss X to remedy the injustice this caused. We will not investigate the school named by the Council because it is reasonable for Miss X to use her right of appeal to a tribunal.

  • Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council (25 004 871)

    Statement Not upheld Allocations 03-Sep-2025

Summary: Miss X complained the Council has failed to comply with our recommendations to review her priority under the housing allocation scheme following her previous complaint. We found the Council has fulfilled our recommendation to reassess Miss X’s priority based on overcrowding.

  • Birmingham City Council (24 021 904)

    Statement Upheld Other 03-Sep-2025

Summary: Mr X complained the Council failed to act on his requests for street cleaning in a timely manner. The Council was at fault. It responded to Mr X’s requests for street cleansing but it acknowledged there were delays in providing the service. This was fault and the Council apologised to Mr X for this delay. We found the apology suitable to remedy Mr X’s injustice. The Council agreed to also update its website to better manage expectations around how it responds to requests from residents for street cleansing.

  • Fylde Borough Council (24 022 932)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Planning applications 03-Sep-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the way the Council dealt with Mr X’s reports of breaches of planning control and a retrospective planning application. We have already considered these matters under a previous complaint and will not do so again. Mr X also complains about the Council’s responses to his requests for information. We consider it reasonable for him to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office on this point.

  • Nottinghamshire County Council (25 005 137)

Summary: We cannot investigate Mr X’s complaint about how the Council carried out its trading standards investigation. The issues raised are subject to court action. We have no jurisdiction to investigate.

  • Birmingham City Council (25 005 424)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Trees 03-Sep-2025

Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about damage to his relative’s property allegedly caused by a tree belonging to the Council. This is because it would be reasonable to expect Mr X to proceed with his claim to courts to determine the Council’s liability for the claimed loss. Also, we cannot achieve the outcome requested.

  • Bristol City Council (25 005 451)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 03-Sep-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about damage to a property because it is reasonable to expect Mr Y to go to court about the matter. Also, the court, along with insurers, are better placed to consider this complaint.

  • Dorset Council (25 005 523)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Rights of way 03-Sep-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about a bridleway because the complaint is late and there are no good reasons to exercise discretion to investigate it now.

  • West Suffolk Council (25 005 927)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Allocations 03-Sep-2025

Summary: We will not investigate Ms X’s complaint because there is insufficient injustice caused by the slight delay in the Council assessing her housing register application and insufficient evidence of fault in its decision-making to justify our involvement.

  • Cheshire West & Chester Council (25 005 960)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Child protection 03-Sep-2025

Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about two children and family reports the Council has completed. This is because there is no sign of fault in the Council’s decision not to consider his complaint via its complaints procedure whilst there are ongoing court proceedings.
