The Ombudsman's final decision:

The complaint
- Ms B complained about the way the independent appeal panel considered her appeal against the refusal of a place for her son at St George’s School.
The Ombudsman’s role and powers
- We can decide whether to start or discontinue an investigation into a complaint within our jurisdiction. (Local Government Act 1974, sections 24A(6) and 34B(8), as amended)
How I considered this complaint
- I considered the information provided by Ms B.
What I found
- Ms B applied for a place at St Georges School for her son. He was refused a place because the school was full. Ms B appealed. Her appeal was considered by the independent appeal panel but was refused.
Final decision
- Ms B has told us she wishes to withdraw her complaint because her son is now settled in a different school and no longer wants a place at St Georges School. As no meaningful outcome can be achieved by continuing, we have discontinued the investigation.
