Summary: Miss F complained on behalf of her adult daughter that the Council had failed to make special educational needs provision for her. We found fault which caused distress and lack of provision. The Council has agreed to apologise and make payments to remedy that injustice.

Summary: Ms D complained about the Council’s investigation of noise from a neighbouring house. We partially upheld the complaint, finding the Council did not record telling Ms D when it closed its investigation nor answer emails she sent later. This caused her avoidable and unnecessary distress. The Council has accepted these findings. At the end of this statement we set out action it has agreed to remedy that injustice and to improve its service to prevent a repeat.

Summary: Mr F complained about delay by the Council completing an education, health and care (EHC) needs assessment for his daughter, G. The Council upheld his complaint, apologised and offered a payment of £500 for the time, trouble and distress the delay caused. We have recommended a remedy for the impact on G’s education.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s handling of arrangements for Ms V’s care and support because: the Court of Protection either supervises or should consider the arrangements; the Council has offered a suitable remedy for some shortfall in service and explained its decision on charges for Ms V's care and support; and we will not investigate the handling of correspondence for its own sake. The matter does not therefore warrant us investigating.

There was also delay and fault in the Council’s safeguarding investigation. To remedy the injustice caused the Council has agreed to apologise, make a payment and service improvements.
