Summary: Miss X complained that the Council had failed to consider a funding request from her son’s school. She said the Council had failed to stick to deadlines and her son has been out of education. We find the Council was at fault. This cause significant distress to Miss X and her son missed out on education. The Council has agreed to make several recommendations to address this injustice caused by fault.

We discontinued our investigation as we cannot investigate the Council’s decision as it is caught by Ms A’s appeal to the Tribunal, which the law does not allow us to consider.

Summary: Ms B complained about how the Council dealt with her 2023 homelessness application, its staff conduct, its complaint handling and its poor communication with her. Ms B also complained the Council failed to comply with one of the recommended actions it agreed to complete following the Ombudsman’s investigation into her previous complaint about her housing situation. There were faults by the Council which caused injustice to Ms B. The Council will take action to remedy the injustice caused.
