  • Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council (23 013 447)

    Statement Upheld Residential care 09-Dec-2024

Summary: Ms X complains the Council failed to provide safe and suitable care for her grandfather Mr Y while he was in a care home causing distress. We have found fault by the Council because it failed to provide clarity to its safeguarding enquiry conclusions in Mr Y’s case. We have recommended a suitable remedy for the injustice caused in this case so have completed our investigation.

  • London Borough of Camden (23 018 496)

    Statement Upheld Allocations 09-Dec-2024

Summary: Ms X complained the Council delayed considering the environmental health concerns she raised about her previous property. Ms X is also unhappy with how the Council considered her application for social housing and said it did not give her the correct priority points. Ms X said this impacted her mental and physical health. The Council did accept some fault and offered Ms X £250. There was fault in the way the Council delayed making decisions about Ms X's homelessness and did not suitably act to resolve the condition of the property. There was also fault in the priority points allocation and complaints process. Ms X was distressed and frustrated by the Council’s actions. Ms X and Y remained living in an insanitary property. The Council has agreed to apologise, make a financial payment and train its staff in the Council’s responsibilities.

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Homelessness 09-Dec-2024

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s actions relating to Miss X’s homelessness. It was reasonable for her to use her statutory right of appeal to the county court. There is insufficient evidence of fault in the Council’s decision not to accommodate her pending review of its decision it did not owe her the main housing duty.

  • West Northamptonshire Council (24 010 812)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Assessment and care plan 09-Dec-2024

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about how to meet adult social care and support needs. The Council has explained the actions it needs to take to review the person’s care and support plan and to provide a carer's assessment to the complainant. An Ombudsman investigation would not achieve a different outcome.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s decision not to issue a blue badge. There is not enough evidence of fault to justify our involvement.

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Special educational needs 09-Dec-2024

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about how the Council has reviewed Miss X’s son’s special educational needs. This is because Miss X has used her right of appeal to a tribunal and the issues she raises are not separable from that appeal.
