  • Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council (24 010 995)

Statement Upheld Special educational needs 23-Apr-2025

Summary: Mrs X complained that the Council delayed in its decision to refuse to reassess her son, Y’s, special educational needs, and delayed in issuing an amended Education, Health and Care Plan following an annual review. We found fault on the part of the Council which caused injustice to Mrs X and Y in the form of distress and delayed access to suitable educational provision. The Council has agreed to make symbolic payments to remedy the injustice caused.

  • Derbyshire County Council (24 012 164)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Special educational needs 23-Apr-2025

Summary: We cannot investigate Miss X’s complaint that the Council’s actions delayed an Education Health and Care needs assessment. This is because Miss X used her right of appeal to a tribunal and we cannot investigate the actions of the Council during that appeal.

  • Sheffield City Council (24 012 559)

    Statement Not upheld Charging 23-Apr-2025

Summary: Ms Y complained the Council wrongly decided her late mother, Mrs X, deprived herself of assets to reduce her care fees. The Council made this decision in line with relevant law and guidance without fault.

  • Oadby & Wigston Borough Council (24 013 733)

    Statement Upheld Homelessness 23-Apr-2025

Summary: Miss X complained about the temporary accommodation provided by the Council. We find no fault in the Council’s decision to issue a warning letter about her behaviour or the placements provided. We do find fault in the Council’s delay responding to concerns about the standard of a temporary accommodation and the events leading her to sleep in her car. The Council has agreed to apologise and make a payment to Miss X.

  • Westminster City Council (24 014 973)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 23-Apr-2025

Summary: We cannot investigate this complaint about the Council’s legal proceedings in a business rates matter. We have no power to investigate the taking of court action and only a court can decide liability for business rates.

  • Birmingham City Council (24 016 254)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Enforcement 23-Apr-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council decision to not take enforcement action against estate agent boards left in place for long periods of time. We have not seen enough evidence of fault to justify an investigation.

  • London Borough of Harrow (24 016 555)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Trees 23-Apr-2025

Summary: We will not investigate Mrs B’s complaint about the Council not removing two large trees which block light to her home. This is because there is not enough evidence of fault to justify an investigation.

  • Westminster City Council (24 018 783)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Assessment and care plan 23-Apr-2025

Summary: We will not investigate Ms X’s complaint about the Council not providing her with enough care hours and about the Council’s refusal to allow her food expenses to be considered disability related expenditure. This is because there is insufficient evidence of fault.

  • Leeds City Council (24 018 964)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Residential care 23-Apr-2025

Summary: We will not investigate Miss X’s complaint about a care home being unable to find and return her late mother’s clothing. This is mainly because we could not add to the previous investigation carried out by the care home. Miss X could reasonably take court action if she wants compensation.

  • Kent County Council (24 019 050)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries School transport 23-Apr-2025

Summary: We will not investigate Ms X’s complaint about the provision of free to home to school transport. There is not enough evidence of fault by the Council to justify our involvement.
