Statement Closed after initial enquiries Managing council tenancies 01-Dec-2025

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Parking and other penalties 01-Dec-2025

Summary: We will not investigate Mrs B’s complaint about a Penalty Charge Notice for an alleged parking contravention. This is because it was reasonable for Mrs B to put in an appeal to the Traffic Penalty Tribunal.

  • Sheffield City Council (24 017 244)

    Statement Upheld Child protection 30-Nov-2025

Summary: Ms X complains about the way the Council dealt with the care of her children. The Council was at fault for the Investigating Officer failing to consider information when they said they would, failing to clarify at stage three of the complaint procedure its view on whether it could investigate human rights matters, delaying in completing the complaint procedure and delaying in completing some of the agreed remedies. This caused Ms X and her children distress, frustration and uncertainty. The Council has agreed to apologise, make a payment to Ms X and the children, and send us an action plan on how it will improve complaint handling times.

  • Essex County Council (25 010 291)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries School transport 30-Nov-2025

  • North Northamptonshire Council (25 009 606)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Special educational needs 29-Nov-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about fault on the Council’s part in the process of assessing the complainant’s son’s needs and issuing an Education Health and Care plan. This is because the complaint has already been upheld and investigation would not lead to a different outcome.

  • Staffordshire County Council (25 009 660)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Alternative provision 29-Nov-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint that the Council failed to make appropriate educational provision for the complainant’s child. This is because the complaint concerns matters about which the complainant had the right to appeal to the First-tier Tribunal (Special Educational Needs and Disability) or are closely related to such matters, and it was reasonable for her to do so.

  • Lincoln City Council (25 012 360)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Council tax 29-Nov-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s administration of Mr X’s holiday let council tax account as it is unlikely we will find fault or that any fault caused Mr X a level of injustice sufficient to justify our further involvement.

  • London Borough of Bromley (24 011 518)

    Statement Upheld Enforcement 28-Nov-2025

Summary: Mr X complained about the Council’s handling of the planning and enforcement process for a path serving an approved development near his home. He said as a result his privacy has been affected, and he may experience water overflow into his garden. We found fault in how the Council considered amended plans to increase the height and location of the path in early 2023 and how it communicated with him. The was no fault on other matters complained about. The Council will apologise and make a symbolic payment to acknowledge the impact Mr X has experienced.
