  • Essex County Council (24 004 328)

    Statement Upheld Alternative provision 28-Oct-2025

Summary: Miss X complained about the Council’s failure to ensure her son (Y) received education and support included in his Education Health and Care Plan. We found fault with the Council in the way it carried out its alternative provision duty and reviewed Y’s Educational Health and Care Plan. The Council’s fault meant Y missed education and support he needed. It also caused significant distress to Miss X. The Council has agreed to apologise, arrange a meeting to check Y’s engagement with his post-16 education and make symbolic payments. The Council has previously agreed to improve its services.

  • London Borough of Tower Hamlets (24 008 161)

    Statement Upheld Other 28-Oct-2025

Summary: Mr X complained the Council failed to properly allocate address numbering to a development and about how it dealt with his complaint. We have found delay and poor complaint handling causing Mr X frustration and uncertainty. The Council agreed to apologise and make a symbolic payment to Mr X and take action to resolve the issue and avoid a recurrence.

  • Leeds City Council (24 017 661)

    Statement Upheld Other 28-Oct-2025

Summary: Miss D complained on behalf of her sister who lives in supported living accommodation arranged by the Council. We upheld her complaint, finding the Council failed to take sufficient action to safeguard Miss D’s sister after she experienced aggressive behaviour from another resident. We considered its inattention caused unnecessary distress to both Miss D and her sister. The Council has accepted these findings and at the end of this statement, we set out action it has agreed to take to remedy their injustice and try to prevent a repeat.

  • Buckinghamshire Council (25 006 895)

Statement Upheld Special educational needs 28-Oct-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Education, Health and Care plan process. This is because the Council has agreed to an appropriate remedy for the injustice caused by the delay.

  • Essex County Council (25 006 955)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Traffic management 28-Oct-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s introduction of a temporary traffic regulation order. There is insufficient evidence of fault which would warrant an investigation.

  • Suffolk County Council (25 007 003)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries School transport 28-Oct-2025

Summary: We will not investigate Mrs X’s complaint about the Council’s decision not to provide her child with funded transport to school. This is because there is not enough evidence of fault by the Council to warrant further investigation.

  • Birmingham City Council (25 007 006)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Council tax 28-Oct-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about council tax liability. Mr X can appeal to the Valuation Tribunal, and it is reasonable to expect him to do this. For the other parts of Mr X’s complaint, we could not add to the Council’s investigation, and we cannot achieve the outcome he seeks.

  • Essex County Council (25 007 204)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Transport 28-Oct-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s decision to refuse Mr X a Blue Badge. This is because there is not enough fault to justify our involvement.

  • Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council (25 007 250)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Housing benefit and council tax benefit 28-Oct-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council providing the wrong advice about claiming Universal Credit. This is because there is insufficient evidence of fault to justify investigation.

  • Worcestershire County Council (25 007 457)

Statement Closed after initial enquiries Other 28-Oct-2025

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the outcome of a mental capacity assessment undertaken as part of a Lasting Power of Attorney application. This is because there is another body better placed to consider this complaint.
